I recently read a very interesting book called Therapy from the Quran and Ahadith. Made me realize that the Quran and Hadith has tremendous amounts of guidance to help each and everyone one of us though our difficulties and through our good times.
I think we all have looked for ways to help us cope with the many things that hold us down, whether it be our job, family, friends loved ones etc and trust me when i say when you fall completely inlove with the Quran it is a source of therapy and guidance to help us in our lives Inshallah.
So what is the book about, firstly many of us probably see a therapist or a psychologist etc but sometimes they are helpful and sometimes they are not, what i have realized is that the words of the Quran are so deep that when we read it, it is as if Allah is speaking directly to us…Now when you go to a therapist they do not heal the underlying factor but basically they only state the obvious.
This is where this book comes in. The author uses verses from the Quran and Hadith to illustrate various situations in our lives for example
- Being Realistic
- Divine Decree – something we all do not fully understand nor accept
- Helpful role models
and the list goes on, so you have to read it to find out for yourself..however i will share things from the book that stood out for me Inshallah
” Positive thinking breeds inner peace and effects our behaviour”
” All behaviour is an active choice” The Prophet (SAW) said virtue is a kind nature and vice is what festers in your heart and that which you detest for anyone to know”
“Allah (SWT) tells us that one of the first people to be sent to the hell fire will be the on who gave in charity only to be seen by others”
“And if Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He and if He touches you with good, then He is able to do all things (Sr Al Anam)
“the lightning almost snatches away their sight, whenever it flashes for them, they walk therein and when darkness covers them they stand still. And if Allah willed He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Certainly Allah has power over all things” (Sr Al Baqarah)
“It is easy to feel overpowered by negative behaviours of other people and to want to give up forgetting the fact that such schemes are only as powerful as the individuals response to them”
“The power of prayer can never be underestimated, be it in the form of five daily prayers of Islam or supplications to the Creator (SWT)”
I will leave it at that…i feel that this book is a character building tool and it should be read more than once to truly absorb what the author is trying to say.
So please purchase this book.
May it be a means of relief for those who are silently suffering …Inshallah
