I recently read a very interesting book called SUFI LIGHT it basically explains how to connect with your inner self and to rid yourself from the restlessness that you may feel.

It took me a while to read this book because i wanted to understand the importance of meditation and how it could help me through my daily struggles.

But first the book speaks about our soul and the journey it takes

“Death is the end of our journey through this material world ,yet it is the beginning of the new infinite life and souls journey towards its real source of origin”

So what is the main purpose of this book ..well it explores the secrets of human and divine love and interaction through meditation on the name of Allah. (SWT)

“I am as my servant thinks of me and I am with him when he remembers Me. If he remembers Me in private. I Remember him with in Myself. If he remembers Me in company. I Remember him in better company”

Just a few wise words from the book that catches my attention and really makes me yearn to become closer to our Rabb.

“One cannot achieve perfection without knowledge because it is the means by which one arrives at the realization and affirmation of the oneness of the Lord of all the worlds”

“Inner knowledge is attained by removing the veils especially of the lower self from the mirror of the heart and cleaning and polishing it by the rememberance of God”

I will end off with one last quote from the book…i suggest everyone goes and reads this book if you want to find peace within yourselves through meditation.

“It is of vital importance to know that presence of mind and heart is mandatory in devotion, submission, commemoration, and meditation”

Book Written by : Dr Feryad A.Hussain

I recently read a very interesting book called Therapy from the Quran and Ahadith. Made me realize that the Quran and Hadith has tremendous amounts of guidance to help each and everyone one of us though our difficulties and through our good times.

I think we all have looked for ways to help us cope with the many things that hold us down, whether it be our job, family, friends loved ones etc and trust me when i say when you fall completely inlove with the Quran it is a source of therapy and guidance to help us in our lives Inshallah.

So what is the book about, firstly many of us probably see a therapist or a psychologist etc but sometimes they are helpful and sometimes they are not, what i have realized is that the words of the Quran are so deep that when we read it, it is as if Allah is speaking directly to us…Now when you go to a therapist they do not heal the underlying factor but basically they only state the obvious.

This is where this book comes in. The author uses verses from the Quran and Hadith to illustrate various situations in our lives for example

  1. Being Realistic
  2. Divine Decree – something we all do not fully understand nor accept
  3. Forgiveness
  4. Helpful role models

and the list goes on, so you have to read it to find out for yourself..however i will share things from the book that stood out for me Inshallah

” Positive thinking breeds inner peace and effects our behaviour”

” All behaviour is an active choice” The Prophet (SAW) said virtue is a kind nature and vice is what festers in your heart and that which you detest for anyone to know”

“Allah (SWT) tells us that one of the first people to be sent to the hell fire will be the on who gave in charity only to be seen by others”

“And if Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He and if He touches you with good, then He is able to do all things (Sr Al Anam)

“the lightning almost snatches away their sight, whenever it flashes for them, they walk therein and when darkness covers them they stand still. And if Allah willed He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Certainly Allah has power over all things” (Sr Al Baqarah)

“It is easy to feel overpowered by negative behaviours of other people and to want to give up forgetting the fact that such schemes are only as powerful as the individuals response to them”

“The power of prayer can never be underestimated, be it in the form of five daily prayers of Islam or supplications to the Creator (SWT)”

I will leave it at that…i feel that this book is a character building tool and it should  be read more than once to truly absorb what the author is trying to say.

So please purchase this book.

May it be a means of relief for those who are silently suffering …Inshallah

Author “Amira Ayad”

I have read this book “The True Secret” and i can positively say that it is a must read for everyone.

A few things i would like to share from the book.

“If you want to do anything you should do it only to seek the pleasure of Allah”

“did you realize what the True Secret to success is? “It is sincerity to Allah”

“Acting out of pure intention and sincere devotion to Allah can totally change ones life”

“sincerity is the essence of faith”

“Sincerity and integrity are required to straighten out worldly matters”

“It is a deep feeling rooted inside your Heart” (Sincerity)

There are two primary elements to the true meaning of worship

  1. The feeling that we are servants of Allah
  2. We should devote our entire selves to him

“Intention is the true driving force behind the action of any person|

“We are sincere first to our one and only creator, to Allah. This life is not our ultimate goal”

“Happiness is an inner feeling, it is the contentment and satisfaction of your soul”

The Prophet Muhammed said “Seek help of Allah and do not be frustrated. if something befalls you, do not say: if i had done this such and such would have happened. Say: Allah decreed and what Allah wills, he does. Indeed, the word “if” opens the door for evil” (Muslim)

Heal your soul while seeking a cure for your body”

“Care about what you are doing and always do your best, while seeking only the pleasure of Allah”

“To love, in the true Islamic meaning is to relate everything we love to Allah”

“Love for the sake of Allah and be sincere in your love”

“Difficult situations may not always mean deprivation, grief or melancholy, they may on contrary mean happiness, extravagance, abundance and riches”

“You need to believe in yourself and your abilities”

“You always need to check and ensure that you maintain your Islamic values, ethics and integrity”

Abu Darda said: “Allah has a right over you, so give everyone his/her due right”

Purify your heart and soul, believe in yourself and your abilities and have total unconditional faith in your Creator, only then will you change your life for the better”

“To create change in your life you have to start working on your thoughts and beliefs”

“Unethical behaviors may bring temporary riches but they never bring true happiness or satisfaction. They may feed one’s greed, but they surely deplete ones soul”

“Truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to paradise”

“Have confidence in yourself and recognize that Allah created you with many capabilities. Dont ever let people discourage you or lead you away from your important goals”

” Believe in your self worth and potential” Nothing can defeat you”

“Believe deep in your soul that your connection with Allah is the true source of your power and strength”

Muhammed Al Ghazali said: “Do not ask Allah to reduce your burden but ask Him to strengthen your back to carry the load”

“Your true secret is the source of your strength, confidence, persistence and perseverance”

“Do not make yourself worthless”

“We are nothing without Allah”

“Do not put Allah on trial about something he pre-ordained”

“Our misery lies in our inability to appreciate all of our blessings”

“You have to look within your heart to find inner peace and contentment”

“A vision can only be changed to reality when it finds someone to make it his or her true vocation”

This book has helped me in so many ways on how to find true contentment in my life as well as helping me create a step by step guide to evaluate myself and my goals.

Don’t Be Sad

Author: Dr, A’id al Qarni

Don’t’ be Sad is a very good book. I have read it in PDF format and hardcover and i have read it more than once. If you are in search of restoring hope, peace and happiness in your life then this is definitely the book that you should read. The author is truly brilliant, he also wrote the book You can be the Happiest women in the World. I recommend this book to everyone it has changed my life considerably.

Words from the Book- which i thought helped alot.

“Today is my only Day”

A person who is sitting on the ground does not fall and people do not kick a dead dog.

The hand that gives is better than the hand that receives.

If you find yourself to be in difficulty or distress, show kindness to others and you will be the first to find solace and comfort. Give to the needy, defend the oppressed, help those in distress and visit the sick, you will find that happiness surrounds you from all directions.

An act of charity is like perfume is benefits the user, the seller and the buyer.

The Prophet (SAW) said: “The Muslim is the person who tongue and hand do not harm other Muslims”

Truthfulness is beloved by Allah and is purifying soap for the heart.

The Prophet (SAW) said: “This world is cursed along with all that is in it, except for these: The remembrance of Allah, what follows it, the scholar and the student.

Some people have a heart that is like a sponge absorbing all kinds of fallacies and misconceptions.

And let not those who have no certainty of faith discourage you (Quran 30:60).

Whatever befalls a believer in terms of anxiety, hardship or grief. Allah will make it an atonement for some of his sins.

One of the Arab poets said:

How often is the young man overcome with despair when afflicted. And with Allah is the way out. The situation becomes unbearable, and when the rope tightens, it snaps and throughout, he never thought that he would be saved.

The Prophet (SAW) said “Verily true patience is that which is displayed during the initial shock”

The Prophet (SAW) said: “Love the one who is beloved to you in moderation, for perhaps the day will come when you will abhor him. And hate the one whom you detest in moderation, for perhaps the day will arrive when you will come to love him”

I will leave you with this.

Do Not be sad, because the one who is sad is like a person who pours water into a bucket that has a hole in it. He is like a writer who uses his finger to write on water.

Do Not be sad, because the true span of life is measured by the number of days in which you are content. Do not spend your days in grief, do not waste your nights in sorrow and do not be extravagant in squandering your time; for truly Allah loves not those who are extravagant and wasteful.

Do not be sad, for in truth your Lord forgives sins and accepts repentance.

8A Gift for Muslim Bride

Author: Muhammed Haneef Abdul Majeed

My Rating: 10/10

This Book is truly the best book a bride, a bride to be or even someone who is not either can purchase. The book also contains stories of some exemplary women in Islam.

Alhamdulilah i can truly say that i have learnt alot from this book. It is best to equip yourself with knowledge of how to deal with certain things in marriage before you even decide to settle down.

“Looking at a beautiful wife pleases the eyes, but looking at a pious wife gives pleasure to the heart”

I will not go into to much detail about the book. All i can say is the book will help every women empower herself. how to handle her in laws and her husband. and how to earn the pleasure of Allah through following the Quran and Sunnah of Nabi (SAW).

Please go out and purchase this book. 🙂

Author: Dr A’id Al Qarni

This is another Islamic book that i have read. I found it to be very uplifting and helpful. It is truly a book every women should have. I shall take you through a sneak peak of the book.

Ten Thoughts to Ponder

  1. Remember that your Lord forgives those who ask him for forgiveness. and he accepts the repentance of those who repent. and He accepts those who come back to him.
  2. Show mercy to the weak and you will be happy. give to the needy and you will be well. do not bear grudges and you will be healthy.
  3. Be optimistic. for Allah is with you. and the angels are praying for forgiveness for you. and Paradise awaits you.
  4. Wipe away your tears. think well of your Lord. and chase away your worries by remembering the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon you.
  5. Do not think that this world is ever perfect for anyone. There is no one on the face of the earth who gets all that he wants or that is free from all kind of distress.
  6. Be like a tall tree high with aims. if a stone is thrown at it. it simply lets its fruits drop.
  7. Have you ever heard that grief brings back what has been lost. or that worry corrects mistakes? so why grieve and worry then?
  8. Do not expect trials and calamities. rather expect peace. safety and good health. If Allah wills.
  9. Extinguish the flames of hatred from your heart by forgiving everyone who has ever hurt you.
  10. Ghusl, Wudu, Siwak and being organized are effective medicines for all kinds of distress.

The past is gone and the hoped for future is still unknown. All you have is the present.

Be optimistic even if you are in the eye of the storm

Soon the flowers will bloom, grief will depart and happiness will prevail.

Your gold is your religion, your adornment is your moral attitude and your wealth is your good manners.

” Allah is suffecient for us and He is the best disposer of affairs” (Quran 3.173)

Leave the wrongdoer to the court of the hereafter when there will be no judge but Allah

Author: Ismail A Kalla

“He who knows himself, Knows Almighty Allah. Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him” ( The Noble Messenger of Allah, Muhammed (SAW) )

This book helps one develop mentally to succeed and improve your life. Through the Glorious Quran and the Sunnah of Nabi (SAW) this book empowers the reader to increase their spirituality and help develop themselves mentally by controlling their conscious and sub conscious minds.

” With knowledge man rises to the heights of goodness and to a noble position and attains to the perfection of Happiness in the next world ” ( The Noble Messenger Muhammed (SAW) )

Knowledge of Quran and Sunnah helps us to understand our spiritual self and discover the leads and the signs to unleash our higher self. In turn it will bring us peace and happiness in this world and the next.

Take control of Yourself.

Everyday we should learn something new about ourselves, if we do not we will age faster.

The Noble Quran helps us take control of our minds and helps cure the illness of the mind. Allah wants us to control  Our Conscious and Sub Conscious because it is the master of our destiny.

The Power of the Sub-Conscious mind

” Whether you show what is in your mind or conceal it, Allah calls you to account for it” (Surah Al- Baqrah) [2]: 284

Almighty Allah controls, runs and plans everything that takes place in the universe. Our Sub-Conscious mind is the creative power that Allah has blessed humanity with. This means that we have angels (Kiraaman and Kaatibeen) the generous recording angels that know all we do and desire.

If we want love, we have to give love. If we want respect, we have to give respect. If we want money, we have to give money (charity). Anything that we want, we have to learn to give. The more we give, the more we attract. If we are selfish, we create blockage. When there are no blockages, the power of Almighty Allah flows through us.

Nabi (SAW) said “that the true believer has penetrating insight for he sees by the ligh of Allah”

The Mind is the most powerful goal striving mechanism

” Do they not ponder in their minds the meeting with Allah” (Surah Ar-Rum) [ayah 8]

Allah has blessed us with the mind which is a powerful mechanism. We should work on reprogramming our minds with positive thoughts and feelings. Always glorify the names of the Almighty Allah, this will inshallah attract and unleash the power of Almighty Allah within us.

YOU BECOME WHAT YOU THINK

The Power of the Word

“The perfect Muslim is he/she from whose tongue and hands mankind is safe” (The Noble Messenger Muhammed (SAW)

Words are an index to one’s character and personality. Hazrat Ali (ra) said ” Your tongue will speak out what it is accustomed to”

Your behaviour is the index to your mind.

The Power of Positive Thoughts

You are what your thoughts are, without this thinking power you are no more than a jumble of bones and flesh.

Everything we recieve  comes through sheer persistance and faith in Almighty Allah.

Control Your Thoughts

“Express not in haste the thoughts of Thy mind. for Thout can reveal them when Thou will” (Shaikh Sa’adi (ra) )

Discpline Your Thoughts

” Whoever has no command over himself becomes subjected to others” (Jalaluddin Rumi (ra) )

The only power we have absolute control and freedom over is our thoughts.

In Surah Al-Baqarah: Allah says ” Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths but for the intention in your hearts” [2]: 225

A Sufi poet wrote ” The picture of the beloved is in the mirror of the heart, you see Him when you bend your head a little, towards the heart, In sufi terminology this is called Muraqabah or meditation.

The Power of Silence

” He who keeps silent will be safe” (Nabi SAW)

There are two types of silence, outer silence and the silence of the heart and mind. The heart of one who trusts completely in Allah is silent, not demanding any means for living.

My Experience from the Book

Alhamdulilah i enjoyed this book very much. I only wanted to touch base on a few things from various chapters in the book so you can all get an idea of what it is all about.

Since reading the book i have a different outlook, my mind and soul feel more at peace. Each day i set myself daily tasks which i carry out. and i have also started making a list of goals which Alhamdulilah i wish to fulfill by the will of The Almighty Allah (SWT).

I Recommend this book for anyone who is seeking to develop their lives spiritually.

A good idea for all of us. Make a list of 6 items, 3 spiritual and 3 material. Each day you should work on those 6 goals, but let your spiritual be either to learn Quran and follow the Sunnah of Nabi (SAW).

Inshallah i hope we all strive toward the correct path so we can Unleash the Power of Almighty Allah Within Us.
